About the Role

Our client is a QLD government organisation based in Maroochydore QLD. They are currently seeking a Senior Management Accountant to come in and work with the team until 12th March 2027.


Requirements for this role include:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or similar
  • Demonstrated experience in a management accounting role within a complex organisation, preferably in a government or public sector environment.
  • Proven experience using TechnologyOne (TechOne).
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Financial Planning & Budgeting: Co-lead the development, coordination, and timely delivery of annual budgets, budget reviews, and long-term financial modeling for submission
  • Management Accounting & Business Partnering: Provide dedicated accounting, business analysis, and strategic financial advice to leaders and branch management, building an in-depth operational understanding of client business areas.
  • Financial Reporting & Performance Tracking: Prepare, investigate, and submit monthly financial performance reports and activity updates aligned with the Corporate Plan and financial reporting requirements.
  • Project Financial Management: Develop and maintain tracking systems and processes to monitor the financial status, job costing, and budget allocations for operational and capital projects.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and empower direct reports to foster a high-performing culture, build operational capability, and support effective decision-making across the organisation.
  • Policy Development, Compliance & Governance: Contribute to financial policies and procedures while ensuring strict compliance with legislation, policies, and public recordkeeping standards under the framework.
  • Risk Management & Workplace Health & Safety: Uphold the highest standards of public integrity and actively execute systems to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of all employees, contractors, and visitors.
